WENATCHEE, Wash. – September 10, 2026 – Friends of Lake Wenatchee Y Camp (FLWYC) announced today the establishment of its first endowment fund, made possible by three founding gifts totaling $20,000.
The fund, to be known in perpetuity as the “Camp Magic Fund,” marks a significant milestone in FLWYC’s effort to build long-term capacity and remove financial barriers for individuals attending Lake Wenatchee Y Camp.
The founding gifts were contributed by the Armbrust and Richmond Family, Scott and Katie Hall, and Jessica Meehan – each with deep personal ties to the camp’s history and mission.
“This endowment represents the generosity and vision of donors who understand that access to camp changes lives,” said Bonnie Hilory, Co-Founder of FLWYC. “The Camp Magic Fund is just the beginning; as additional contributions are secured over time, we will be able to ensure that financial circumstances never stand between a child and the Lake Wenatchee Y Camp experience.”
“We are deeply grateful to our founding donors for believing in this vision,” said Steve Rolfe, FLWYC Board President and camp alumnus. “Their generosity establishes a permanent legacy that will support campers for generations to come.”
The Camp Magic Fund will be held as a discrete and permanent fund, with spending and investment oversight provided by the FLWYC Board of Directors, in partnership with the Community Foundation of North Central Washington. Consistent with best nonprofit accounting and investment practices, income from the fund will support initiatives identified by the Board to expand access to camp.
FLWYC will continue to seek additional contributions to grow the Camp Magic Fund and will recognize each donor as new gifts are secured. Individuals and families interested in contributing to the endowment are encouraged to contact FLWYC directly.
Donations raised on behalf of FLWYC will be added to the “Fund” at the Community Foundation. The Community Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization. The Community Foundation may disburse grants from the Fund as recommended by the advisors to the Fund or as community needs dictate. All checks should be made payable to the Community Foundation of North Central Washington/ Camp Magic Endowment Fund.
