Your donation will support us as we work to continue the legacy of Lake Wenatchee Y Camp
Friends of Lake Wenatchee Y Camp formed in 2025 dedicated to preserving and encouraging the legacy and continuing the mission of Lake Wenatchee Y Camp. The organization represents a century of individuals of all ages (including outdoor education, rental groups, family camps, and work party participants), Y staff, volunteers, board and committee members, and community members (from the lake and surrounding areas) whose lives were transformed by their experiences with Lake Wenatchee YMCA Camp of Washington State.
Our Mission
We exist to honor the transformative spirit of Lake Wenatchee Y Camp by uniting alumni, preserving our cherished history, championing outdoor environmental education/recreation and developing future leaders.
01
Creating Memories
Ensuring access to the life-changing experiences resulting in camp magic.
02
Outdoor Education
Fostering environmental education and outdoor recreation that connects youth with nature and builds character through hands-on experiences.

03
Preserve History
Stewarding the memories and stories of those who have been to camp or worked at camp, preserving our rich 100 year legacy.
04
Foster Community
We believe camp is more than a place – it’s a community that spans generations. We aim to create space for connection, support, and shared purpose that continues long after the campfire fades.
Building Community Through Camp
Uniting alumni, preserving memories, and creating new adventures.
From Campfire To Community
What started as a handful of passionate volunteers has grown into a thriving network of alumni, families, and supporters dedicated to keeping the spirit of Lake Wenatchee Y Camp thriving. This movement is fueled by real connections and organic growth – one story, one memory, one helping hand at a time. Every new member who signs up brings new energy and keeps the camp magic alive for the next generation.
Our History
We are former staff, lifelong campers, parents, and friends – brought together by a deep love for this place and a shared sense of responsibility to protect it. When we learned the camp was at risk of being sold, something stirred in all of us. Not just nostalgia, but action. We started making calls and hosting meetings. What began as a conversation among a few became a movement among many. We are not a big organization or a corporate team. We are the people who stayed up late on campouts, led songs in the dining hall, planned skits for campfire, and cheered kids through challenges.
Here's What Happened
We are deeply grateful for Mr. Weidner’s generosity. At the end of 2025, the Wenatchee Valley YMCA signed a gift agreement securing the camp property with a 99-year lease, along with $2 million toward the camp’s endowment. These legacy gifts give the Y and our community a chance to reset, re-envision, and renew our collective commitment to young people. Now is the time to build a sustainable, accessible camp experience centered on our mission and values. Join us on this journey.
Where We're Headed
Lake Wenatchee YMCA Camp has shaped generations of campers, staff, and families – and now, we’re at a turning point. We’ve held onto the legacy. Now it’s time to build the future. With your help, we’re working to preserve this sacred space, protect the land, and reimagine how camp can continue to serve kids and communities for decades to come. That means restoring beloved spaces, reopening doors to campers, and laying the groundwork for new programs and partnerships – all while staying rooted in the spirit that made this place home. This isn’t just about saving a property. It’s about keeping the magic alive for future generations. Whether you’re a lifelong camper, a former staff member, or someone who’s only ever heard the stories, you’re part of this legacy.
