Camp Director

I’ve dedicated my career to serving YMCAs and nonprofits, and I’m passionate about preserving places that transform lives. I live in Port Angeles near Olympic National Park with my husband Kevin, our dog Phoenix, and run Nonprofit Accelerator, where I help nonprofits thrive.

Lake Wenatchee Y Camp holds a special place in my heart. My journey began as an adult participant at a Christian Leadership Conference, and later, I earned my Archery Certification at an ACA conference there. And again at a CLC conference, I received my white rag, which is a dedication to lifetime service. When Dave Campbell, camp director at the time transitioned from director, I was honored to be asked to apply. As a single parent at the time, working with the Northshore and Highline YMCAs in Seattle, I jumped at the chance.

The Board President hired me, and we moved to the valley – first Cashmere, then East Wenatchee. Every summer, my kindergarten-aged son and I lived at camp from Memorial Day through August. Those magical summers fuel my commitment today. I had the joy of reviving the Ragger and Leathers program, creating the Leader of the Year award, managing winter rentals, and rebuilding our outdoor education offerings.

When Erik (aka Who?) called with news of the potential sale, my heart broke. Along with John (aka Dingo) (our communications expert), we knew we couldn’t stand by and watch this sacred place possibly be developed. Despite our busy lives, we found our answer: work together, stay united, and be respectful of the Y’s business decision.

CEO Dorry graciously met with us, sharing the journey that led to this crossroads. We were given approval to host two retreats (one in June and one upcoming in September). Our June retreat included four Y board members who joined Dorry for presentations and Q&A. We now have a Y board member serving as our liaison as we navigate the process of forming our 501(c)(3).

We are a volunteer-led organization with a growing leadership and operations team, and board elections are planned, with IRS paperwork targeted for completion in August. We meet every other Sunday at 10 AM, and the momentum is undeniable. This isn’t just about saving a camp – it’s about preserving a place where lives are changed forever.
