Erik Makinson

Erik was a Lake Wenatchee YMCA Camper from 1988-1996 and staff from 1996-2000. Since that point, Erik has pursued a career in business, working for and consulting Fortune 100 companies, local businesses, cities, counties, school districts and native tribes. He’s founded and grown his own business (resource-synergy.com) that helps NW organizations reduce their environmental impact and co-founded a nonprofit that enables youth and families to flourish through mountain biking (bikesaretheanswer.org).

Over the last 25 years, he has returned to camp with his own family for work parties and family camp. As Erik describes it, though, his sole never really left Lake Wenatchee Y camp. “This is the spiritual center of my universe. These 26 acres of ponderosa pines and lakefront are sacred to me”, he says. He is committed to ensuring that future generations have the same opportunity for enriching experiences at Lake Wenatchee that shaped his life.
